Visit the Irvington Guild of Artists’ booth during the Halloween Festival and help create a community artwork!

Each participant will paint a small piece of the artwork. All of the pieces created during the Festival will be assembled into the final painting and debut at the reception for the Irvington Presents exhibition on November 10 at 7pm. Join us!

Much like a musical conversation, Stephanie Lewis Robertson sings to her hand-dyed and –printed fabrics while she works, creating constructions
that reflect her interest in spirituality, ritual, music and the power of women. Her current work includes images of labyrinths, spider webs, brain scans and text.

Exhibition Prospectus for "Irvington Presents" juried exhibition

"Irvington Presents" juried exhibition sponsored by the Irvington Historical Society and the Irvington Guild of Artists

TIMELINE OF EVENTS
October 5:  Entry Deadline (postmarked): Your entry should include your signed Entry Form; up to three images on a CD; Notification Label(s) for each entry; your non refundable check, up to $30, payable to the Irvington Historical Society, and a SASE.

October 24:  Notifications to artists will be mailed.
November 3 & 4:  All accepted entries must be hand delivered to the Bona Thompson Memorial Center between 1-4 p.m.
November 10:  Reception at 7 p.m. with the Awards presentation at 7:30 p.m.

January 5, 2013:  Exhibit closes. No exhibited works shall be removed until after January 5, 2013.
January 6 & 7:  Art pick up days, 1-4 p.m. at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center



Awards: The juror will select a $1,000 Best of Show Award and numerous Merit Awards. The Merit Awards will be given in a variety of media categories. Art sales will also be encour-aged throughout the show.
 

Eligibility: Open to all artists, 18 years and older, residing, or with studios, in the following Indiana counties: Bartholomew, Blackford, Boone, Brown, Clay, Clinton, Decatur, Delaware, Fayette, Fountain, Franklin, Grant, Hamilton, Hancock, Hend-ricks, Henry, Howard, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Randolph, Rush, Shelby, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Union, Vermillion, Vigo, and Wayne.
 

Media: Original works completed in the last three years (no classroom or copy work) in oil painting, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, sculpture, drawing, mixed media, photography, and printmaking.
 

Size/Weight: All work is limited to 42 x 42 inches in any direction (framed work ready to hang) and weighing no more than 75 pounds. No sawtooth hangers.
 

Specs and Entry Fee: Entry fee is $10.00 per each artwork image submitted (up to three images - maximum $30.00).
 

Prices and Commissions: All works must be priced or listed as NFS (Not For Sale); please, no POR (Price On Request). The Irvington Historical Society will retain 30% as commission on any work sold throughout the show. The artist will be responsible for the sales tax. 

Juror:  The Juror for Irvington Presents 2012 is Mitch Eckert. Mitch is an established regional artist and educator. He earned his B.F.A. in photography and sculpture from Herron School of Art and M.F.A from Ohio University where he focused on photography, printmaking and art history. Mitch is currently an associate professor of art at the University of Louisville. His work for the past fifteen years has focused on the multifaceted and complex interpretation of the genre of still life incorporating traditional and digital photographic techniques.

Annual Irvington Ice Cream Social

This Sunday, August 5, the Irvington Historical Society's Annual Ice Cream Social will be held once again at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center from 2-5pm.

There will be many activities to enjoy that day:

The IGA will be having a Yart Sale! Peruse the art, books, frames, art supplies, and other interesting things that will be for sale as a fundraiser for the IGA to continue bringing a variety of events to the neighborhood. 


The IGA will host the closing reception for the Collectors' Show.


The Garden Club will host a reception for the artists who participated in this year's Garden Tour. View the artworks created in the gardens of our neighbors. 

Music by the White River Jazz Band......and of course, Ice Cream!

This Sunday, August 5, at the Irvington Historical Society's Annual Ice Cream Social, the IGA will be having a Yart Sale!

Drop off old or new artwork, artist supplies, art books, or other art-related donateables this Wednesday (1-3pm) or Saturday (1-4pm) at Bona Thompson Memorial Center.

The fine art exhibition, “Irvington Guild of Artists’ Collectors’ Show” is on view through August 5, 2012 at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Avenue.

Hours are:

Saturday & Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.
Wednesdays, 1 to 3 p.m.
Other times by appointment.

The Collectors' Show highlights the artwork from the private art collections of local residents and acts as a catalyst for those considering starting their own collection or to learn about why they should collect fine art. Have you begun your art collection? Come see what others are collecting today.

Closing reception is Sunday, August 5 from 2-5pm during the 48th Annual Ice Cream Social. The Center will bring together live music, great art, ice cream and the opportunity to meet and visit with  Irvington residents in one place for an event the whole family can enjoy. Hope you will join us!

“Casserole: A Mixture of Photographic Thoughts”
January 17 to March 4, 2012

The Irvington Guild of Artists is pleased to announce the photography exhibition, “Casserole: A Mixture of Photographic Thoughts”. This exhibition of fine art photography is a group exhibition, which will feature color, and black and white photographs created by the members of INvision: Alliance of Photographic Artists.
The exhibition will open with a reception at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center on Friday, January 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. The artists will be present, and refreshments, including casseroles, will be served. This reception is free and open to the public.
The exhibiting members are Donna Lee Adams, Andy Chen, John Crowe, Lauren Ditchley, Mary Hansen , Holly Hooper, Ginny Taylor Rosner, and Mike Stroup .
INvision is a membership of artists who promote and advance the art of photography by providing a platform for photographic discourse in order to encourage the artistic growth of its members and to enrich the lives of other interested people through the experience of photography.
